How Does It Work?
Hand In Hand Comprehensive Therapy Specialists, Inc. is honored to offer pediatric therapy services through the First Steps program. This state program assesses whether a child needs services like pediatric speech therapy. If deemed eligible, parents can choose Hand In Hand as their trusted agency to provide the support and services your child deserves, including access to our counseling services.
How to Begin the Process?
There are two ways to begin the process:
- Your child can be referred to the local First Steps program by their doctor, hospital staff, or a social service agency caseworker.
- Alternatively, you can self-refer by directly contacting the First Steps program as a parent or caregiver.
What Is the Process?
Once the referral has been made and the information gathered, your child will have their initial evaluation. This will determine if your child is eligible for therapy services and what services will be provided. Once the paperwork is completed, your therapist will contact you to begin your journey.
What are the Sessions Like?
Typically, pediatric therapy sessions are scheduled once a week for 60 minutes, although this frequency may vary based on your child’s unique needs. These sessions are conducted in one of the child’s natural environments, usually at home.
We strongly encourage parents to not only be present but also to actively participate in the sessions. Your insights and knowledge about your child are invaluable, making you an essential part of the therapy team. This collaboration also provides you with individualized strategies to help your child thrive. Together with your therapist, you’ll explore engaging ways to support your child’s development.
